The white Wines of Burgundy are generally only made from one grape varietal: Chardonnay. Much like Bordeaux, Burgundies are labeled by the appellation of origin rather than the grape varietal used. Although, in the case of Burgundy, this information is not as important. One special white Burgundy is known as "Chablis". This wine is made from Chardonnay grapes grown in the northernmost region of Burgundy. Chablis wines tend to be more dry, with a very distinct "flinty" note.
